Welcome!
I am glad that you are here. I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist with the Canadian and American Associations for Marriage and Family Therapy (CACFT and AAMFT). I work with individuals and couples virtually. I believe that people possess unlimited strengths within themselves that can facilitate healing. Therapy is about the process of change, and can help an individual to access these resources which lead to new and more satisfying possibilities for living. I believe in the resiliency of the human spirit, and the tremendous potential within each of us to bring about transformation in our lives. I also believe in the essential goodness of every human being.
I am a Certified Sex Therapist with the Association of Sex Therapy in Ontario (ASTO). Sex therapy involves processes and exercises which can be used to enrich both an individual’s sexuality and/or the sexual components of an intimate relationship. Sexuality is a vital part of a healthy lifestyle, and therapy can help individuals to create the most life-enhancing context for the kind of sex that is worth wanting.
Areas of specialization include anxiety, depression, sexual concerns, infidelity, self-esteem, grief, and crises of meaning. I welcome the opportunity to work with members of the 2SLGBTQINA+ community. It is important to me that you feel heard, respected, and valued. Therapy is conducted using a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), narrative, and experiential approaches. Interventions can include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, and hypnosis.
I live and work in Guelph (Ontario), which is a city built over rich Indigenous histories. I humbly acknowledge that I am a guest here, and have the responsibility to care for this land, the people who live here today, and the generations to come. It is important to recognize the unique, long-standing and on-going relationships the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples have with the land and each other.
I acknowledge that societal power structures, tensions, and complexities related to diversity contribute to disparities in power, control, influence, status, privilege, and opportunities among individuals and groups. I support and stand in solidarity with Black communities seeking freedom and reparative justice. I am committed to supporting diversity and inclusion, and to valuing all individuals as free from prejudice and oppression as possible. My aim is to foster a climate of equity and mutual respect.
